Virtual Customer Service Support Representative

The Metro Detroit Youth Training Program is an annual opportunity for youth aged 16-25 to connect with like-minded peers from local communities who are passionate leaders of change in their schools and communities. Participants develop advocacy and leadership skills during the program and have fun through interactive, team-building activities.

Applications are now open through May 31, 2022.

The Virtual Customer Service Support Representative program provides guidelines for emerging technologies such as Internet Chat, Email, Social Media, and Telephone. Participants will learn various hands-on and interactive scenarios to develop the foundation of customer care skills needed to provide service excellence. The foundation for a business's success is quality customer service; program participants learn to build life-long customer relationships by developing effective customer-care strategies.

The program includes 7-weeks of classroom instruction and online e-learning instruction, including 2-weeks of hands-on customer service work observation experience.

    Weekly Class Schedule
  • Tuesday Classes - 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm – In-person Classroom
  • Wednesday Classes - Virtual Online Self-paced e-learning
  • Thursday Classes - 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm - In-person Classroom
  • Friday Classes - Virtual Online Self-paced e-learning
    Program Student Requirements
  • An individual must be 16 to 24 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen or, an eligible non-citizen.
    At Program Completion, Students Receive:
  • Receive FREE Laptop Computer
  • Certificate of Completion
  • Portfolio of completed work and proof of performance
  • College or professional recommendation (based on performance)
    Program Integrated Education and Training
  • Academic Skills – Personal Money Management and Credit Score Education.
  • Business Writing and Administrative Support Communications.
  • Occupational Skills – In-person Customer Service and Virtual Customer Service.
  • Career Readiness – Microsoft Office Digital Literacy – fundamentals of Microsoft Word and Excel computer basics.
  • Career Exploration – Paid work-study customer service elevation assignments.
  • Career Management – job search, resume writing and, interview skills.
